Hey everyone, and welcome to songs gone wrong, where we, along with you, the fans, decide if these hit songs got it right or did those songs go wrong? One of your host, drew Zachman, and joining me as always, is the summertime. Fabulous Bock Tonius Bach. How are you doing, buddy? How wow is that? Is that your summertime? You're some time. I tried something different, it didn't work, but but whatever, you did summertime, and all I got to do now is what are weed and just love my flowers. That's it, baby, that's all I got to do. It cut grass and do all some grass. Everything is in, everything is growing and we're having a good time. Yeah, now, that's good. Yeah, I'm I'm a big fan of summertime and that's we're going to be talking about on this episode. So I mentioned, I don't know, a couple episodes ago, that we're gonna not necessarily change things up and maybe add a couple different options to our show. You've heard the last couple episodes where we've talked with Kevin Martin from candle box and Dave Scotten me from Janis, which were awesome interviews. So thanks to both Kevin and Dave Real Nice guys. I love their music and it's always good too, when you when you interview somebody and your you talk to somebody that you're a fan of right that you've never met, and when you meet them they actually are decent human beings. So I feel like sometimes it could go south and then you're like because, like what, like like a candle box actually, and Jan is to like what happens if, like either one of those guys was like a Dick, you know, like didn't then do I not like candlebox anymore? That was weird. I think, yeah, you don't like candle blocks anymore. Yeah, I feel like that's what happened. But Luckily I love candle box and then Kevin was nice, so I can continue to like them and say with Janis, I like their music before David was nice. Their music now is still good. So that maybe I loved it that when I said something that was think correct, I didn't like say, okay, you fucked up. They're like no, you're wrong, but oh yeah, yeah, they were super easy to talk to. I mean the the fact that came on our show shows probably how easygoing they are. So thanks to Kevin and day for jumping on. And another thing that we mentioned was we're going to do some more these playlists. Maybe once, I don't know, maybe once a month, maybe once every couple weeks, because we both like our playlists and we are we're in summertime. It's officially summer, and what we decided to do was put together a summer song playlist. It's kind of like talk about a couple songs and we'll make the the playlist available to everybody but them. Before we dig in real quick. Guys, if you haven't done so already, make sure you hit subscribe to make sure you get all of our episodes and they come out, which we're trying to do once a week. If we can do more, we're going to do that, but right now I feel like once a week is probably a good sweet spot for us to be in. And if you can leave us a five star review on Itunes, that would be so that would be so awesome. And you can follow us on twitter and Instagram at songs gone follows there. We're doing some giveaways to were probably over well, by time this episode airs we would have found a winner for the lip biscuits significant other CD and helmets. Meantime, those albums just came out in June. Helmet was what June of ninety two and limp biscuit was June of ninety nine. So we put a little note on twitter. So if you guys aren't following us on their follow us on twitter, so that way when we do like giveaways like that, you will be in the loop. So then that way, if you can follow us, will put some notes out and then, if you choose, you then you will get a free CD or some other goodies. So that's where you can follow us at songs gone drop us an emails tow podcast at gmailcom, visit our website, songs gone wrongcom. And we also have our own songs gone wrong playlist on spotify which covers the songs that we talked about. But this one will wind up sharing on social media and will have a link to it in our show notes as well. Now I think I go drew, but I just want to interrupt real quick. Go ahead. Summer to me was going to a monster truck show rally some day, day, Sunday. Can I can I do it for you, please do all right, we go. All right, Whoa, we got gravediggirl. That's all the adults final. It's just that. That's all that's I got.
That is good. I was love the Sunday, Sunday, Sunday, Sunday, Sunday. Yeah, that was that was always a favorite of mine, but it was like I you're going to this thing all jazzed up and they're like big of a disappointment. I never went. I never went to one. It is I used to watch that. I remember like monster trucks were big and like that. I want to say late s early S, like I had my gravedigger truck and my big word and I think I forgot somethings like equalizers. So there's like a handful of these like little monster trucks and it was pretty awesome and I would watch it on TV, like ESPN. You get home from school, would have some of that shit on. Yeah, but it's gets to a point, just gets gets the all real quick. That's like it's a big truck driving in a circle over. Yes, our novelty wears off real quick. Yeah, yeah, and you also probably go deaf in the process. But yeah, summertime, man. I. So we put together a list of songs we're going to talk about and, like I said, we'll share our lists with you guys. But some of these songs are pretty much just appropriate for summer, like it might have summer in the title name or maybe the song itself is about summer. But also there's a couple songs on here that remind both Baka and I about summer. You know what, whether it's recent or we were kids just in the summertime. So that's what we're talking about and that's pretty much what we got. So anything, anything you want to add? BOC Are you ready to jump right here? Let's let's get the countdown going, man. All right. So the first song we have, and I feel like this is probably the best place to start off, summertime by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the fresh prince. I mean, that's song right there. I mean, when I think about summer, like the first day of summer, I have to blast that song and usually once, once or so, like once a week or so at least, I have to listen to this song and the summertime. I mean it just really paints a good picture of summertime, at least for you know, growing up in the Philly area. Our neighborhoods a little bit different, but like for us, like, you know, like our song would have been basically about like us going down to the park, shooting some hoops and probably playing baseball or street hockey or basis is. I feel like it was like just like playing sports like that non stop. But I feel like summertime by DJ Jazzy, Jeff and a freshman's has to be on a summer playlist, just paints a great picture of what summer time is nic just the fun song man at the end of Yeah Day, Dj Oh, my God, Dj Jaz actually met him in an airport and then he kind of shunned me a little bit. Speaking of speaking of don't meet your idols. Oh, I know, but I went up to him. He's again, get away from me. I'm like, Dude, you're not that big. I mean whatever. They're not the fresh prince. You're not the fresh prince, definitely not. I think it's like really, I recognized. I recognized anybody, though. I got that there's equal eye vision, bro that's what I got. I should have been working for the CIA, to be honest. Speaking spotter rapper a mile away, I guess, to be honest, with your I did not like the song. What really? I don't know. I just I think I was in that cool zone at the time when this song came on. It was just like a little corn into me. All right, maybe, maybe just summer wasn't I didn't I didn't go to the camps. Summer was kind of little boring for me. To be honest with you. I love the summertime, at least when I was a kid. Now, now was an adult. It's like you have to watch your kids and still work your day job. So it's like you in the summers like you now have extra work. So, but I mean not. I feel like it's I feel I still love the summertime, though. Man, Nah, I did. I was a kid that got perfect attendance in school. I wanted to be in school. I had so much fun. I got perfect attendance because my parents wouldn't let me skip. I had no so I had to say in the matter, and I'm look where it look where my perfect attendance got me. So okay, thanks a lot, mom, dad. I had to, I had to like basically like been on my deathbed you in order for me to not to not go school. I feel like if I was a kid now, and you know with covid stuff, my parents be like it's going ahead, go on in. I'm like the MOM, I can't, school's close. She's like go to school. I'm like, go to school, I can't. I literally cannot go to school. It is virtual. Yeah, right, still probably send me in, but understand. Well, that's fine. So the next one, I have a my list and then I'll let you mention a couple. But this one here, it's not necessarily a summer song, but it reminds me of summertime. And that one is yellow lad better by pro jam, and whenever I hear this song I there's a very specific day that I think about. It makes me very happy and one of the things that we do with this show is we always like drilled down the lyrics and try to figure out what this person was saying or what was the meaning of this song. This is, I think, the only song I have never looked up the lyrics to because I...
...don't want to know and it might be about nothing. I have no idea. I honestly don't want to know. So when I hear Eddie vetter, I'm let just maybe a couple words I can make out throughout the song and I'm here. Let me hear first from you that that's totally made up. No, I know, I don't want to ruin the song and anyway and messinging it would definitely ruin it. I like to leave it as it is. But when I when I hear this song, I am taken back to eighth grade. So was that one thousand nine hundred and ninety four, and we had some like picnic at school. We went to some park and like central New Jersey and it was basically just kind of like a fun day with our class. So basically played like speak en of playing sports all day. I think we played like softball that we played volleyball and then we wrapped it was like a hundred degrees that day was so hot, and then we wrapped up by playing street hockey and I was the goalie. So here I am playing street hockey and like s like upper it was like upper s on blacktop, not the smart city. I'm sure I'm surprised I didn't have like a each. If I did that now I probably die, but back then I was like fourteen. I'm like I got this, and then after that I had a baseball game, like for for baby. My Baby, Ruth lely got was playing in and my sister drove me to the game and in the car ride were like waiting in the parking lot for we got there a little bit early through the sitting there listening to music, and yellow led better came on and I like immediately get taken back to that day of just, you know, sitting in a car waiting to play some baseball after already playing like fifteen sports at this event we were at for school and life was good. Man. You know, life is good now, but I feel like that was like a different good and it was so much fun. And whenever hear y'ell led better I immediately am fourteen all over again and it is glorious. I feel bad that my story is not as good. No, well, it's very good with this song, but basically I was working at skyview country club and what happened was that that place burnt down their clubhouse and they had it. They didn't have a clubhouse, so they all they got old guys who used to play poker in the locker room. Okay, so I'm fourteen's like my first job. I'm I collect balls. You know, like I wash clubs, I guess up the carts. That's kind of my job. There's my free you're collecting balls in the locker room. Yes, and wash them with bleach, and it was a forget about. So I'm watching, I'm washing the balls and bleach. Okay, look up and they had this fool stack bar and I'm like, I know my father drank a little it. So I was trying to find a bottle that they didn't think that was so I got Zambuka, okay, and I started taking a little couple swigs of it's that's that's a tough one to start off with. Yeah, and then I then I'm like, I'm getting buzz and driving a golf car all over the freaking it was like one of those days there's not many golfers around. I'm having a blast. I'm like, well'm in a movie, this is weird. Well, eyes are twirling. Long Story Short, I I am wasted by the time my father gets me okay, and I'm and I got in trouble whatever. There's more to this story, but I remember waking up the next day and I had my my where I where were? They call caussette players with it with the radio host that and that's a solid walkman. That's a solid walk man. And basically listen to this song picking up balls and I remember that cattle in their callaway was a ball and I was like, I'll always remember that freaking moment, like being hungover, picking up a ball and just like in here in that freaking song going. That's all I got to say about that. All right, I don't even remember. I think the first time I had a drink was probably like sixteen, but the first time I even got buzzed I was like twenty one. I was. I was a late bloomer. Man, I made up for dom my twenties, that's for damn sure. Yeah, but yeah, I don't think anymore. Man, that's funny. I meant what a what are a couple that you have there on your list? Man, feels from freaking it was that Calvin Harris and for for rel that song. Man, you know I'm a dancer, you know I love to have I do Winki, you know I have twinkletoes. Man, you're Mak my talented. That is the song that I freaking rock to and I can freaking move to, and that is summer all over and that's all over my body. Bright. Let's Dude, how how awesome is that Sall? That's good. That's good. It's upscuar island, kind of like base to it, you know, and then they build up and it just the collaboration with everybody in that and that song.
It's just like fucking kick ass. Oh yeah, no, it's a good tune for sure. What else he got? I'm thinking. Have you ever heard the song come dancing by the kinks now that you mentioned before? Yes, I do. Yeah, I know, that's right, that that basically is a song about like them, this one girl grew up and they basically they went dancing in this one particular spot and they ended up demolishing it like years later and reminiscing about the good old days. You know, that's like any kind of town like they take down, like they took down the AMC that was right near Mike, my town, because no one goes to movie theaters. And I mean, I mean memories I've had there, and it's just a song about memories, about going dancing and having a good time and and that is the summer song for me and it's a good dancing song. Fair enough, where they took the a. The AMC's like down, down, like it's gone. It's gone, dude, like I know AMC was is like not there and I get closed, but that they like knock it down. No, are they didn't knock it down. Okay, something, you know, probably storage or something, but that sucks. All these movie places and I think the drive through should make their the comeback, you know, with everything. That's I hope. So I would love that. There's one looks like an hour from me, but I might try to check some movies out there. That'd be fun. We when we also have a projector and like a big like screen that we set up in our backyards. We have like little outdoor movie nights sometimes at our house. But you know, that's a good song and that's so. That's all reminds me, at least the meaning of it. This is the time to remember by Billy Joel. Okay, I feel like that song, that's all, takes me back to like much when it first came out. I remember my uncle driving me around. He was he was such a cool dude, and I feel like the song came on the radio and I feel like anytime I had and I had listened to that song and forever, and maybe like a year ago, I was just kind of going through some billy Joel stuff and I the song came on and as soon as I heard it I was like Holy Shit, you know, it just really took me back to that time, you know, and that song he does kind of I think the second verse he talks about that see where they were talking about a place, that where they went before, but it's not there anymore. So that's a good tune. All right, there, I'm gonna put you on the spot. Gun to your head. Okay, your favorite Billy Jewel Song? I like Alan town really yeah, yeah, I'm seen from a Talian restaurant. That's a good one. These guy. He's got a lot, you know. I also like, I'm sorry if I put a gun to your head. No, yeah, well, please, please, don't. All least virtually a river was a river of dreams. I like that song. It's probably not his best, but that's another that's another song that kind of reminds me of summertime and it just always puts a smile on my face. It's not, I don't think it's his best song, but it's my one of my personal favorites. But yeah, I would say either that or alntown. I love allntown. It's good too, Nice. All right, shine by collective soul. Couple reasons. One, summertime, a lot of Sun, a lot of shine, but also, I mean this song reminds me of, you know, being forgot all it was. This came out like maybe twelve, thirteen or so when this song came out. Collective soul, highly underrated band. We talked about them back in December. I think we talked about the song December. Great, great bands, very underrated. I feel like they were all over the s and I still feel like they just don't get enough credit because they are very good. Maybe we'll get them on the show. Who knows? But you like shine by collective soul? I love that song. WHOA, I'm gonna let the last Shin down. See, there are another band. I feel like that song has some religious like onder tones to it a bit, you know, and I feel like they were like, oh, it's not about religion. I'm like is it? I kind of. I think it is, like a lot of your stuff. I think it is. Yeah, and then ill, what from the lyrics? Yeah, what makes me think this song is religious. Yeah, right. So if you look it's first of all, the the courses. Whoa Heaven, let your light shine down. I mean that that's kind of religious a bit, if you're talking about heaven. But then he says, give me a word, give me a sign, show me where to look, tell me what will I find. So I feel like that's like he's like it's almost like he's looking for guidance from perhaps a higher power such as God, and or maybe Jesus, just whatever Jesus he wants to pray to. That's totally fine, you know. And then he says loves in the water, love is in the air. Show me where to look, Tommy, will love be there?...
So you know, one of the things they've read about in the bibles that loves of our God is love. Right, he's looking for love. So I feel like there's a lot of religious tones here and I think it's a religious Yish Song, which is which is fine. I'm not, you know, I'm not saying. As you know, it our huge hit and it was a massive it. But yeah, I'm not saying it like has to be a religious song to be good or it doesn't have to be a religious song to be good. I'm just saying call what it is and I think it is, and they're like that's just people don't want that stigma the creed. They don't want to be like, oh, we're not a Christian band. Really, creed, your band name is creed. Come on now, collect a soul, right, soul, collective, souls, souls. That's a collective, the energy of the universe. That's how is that not like a spiritual type thing? Come on, guys, anyway, as I like them, I'm just I'm just saying they need to just admit it. Come on a minute. Next long I have here and now by letters to Cleo, I'm actually going to try to get them on the show. We shall see, but this is like one of my favorite this is a ninety song. This is a straight up ninety song and that's perfectly fine because the s are amazing. For those of you that know me by now, you will also know that I love the s and this song is when, if I put a list together of like the top ten best ninety songs, this is on that list. It's not number one, but it's definitely in the top ten and just watching the video, also watching beabs and butt head talk about because this song made an appearance on be of some butt and just like listening to be of some butthead talk about it and listening to Beavis like mumble through the chorus. It's absolutely hilarious. How they recommend you, guys, do like check that out. Maybe we'll put a link to that. Be of some butthead video on Youtube. But this song, it's just a happy song, man. It puts you in a good mood. I like it to. Don't you know that song? Don't? It's a good tune, man. It's I feel like it's very chipper and I feel like it's a good song drive and driving on the Sunday afternoon sunshining windows down here. Another laws of Cleo good tune. Recommend knife. When I think a summer and I was talking to my wife, she said everybody wants to rule the world. I think from just just listening to tears for fear, and I'm a big tears fierce fan and a lot of they've done a bunch of additions of this song and covers just musically very complex song like it. I mean, what would what would you say like that? It musically it's just beautiful. Everything about it is is beautiful, the lyrics and the music. Yeah, this just brings me back to swimming in the pool and just freaking just like this was always on the radio. That song was like you you know when they have on the on the all popular stations, they just do a nine songs. They just replay it every every hour. Oh yes, was like one of those songs and it was just magical to me. I still love listened and do it, but, Dude, I rock out that it still holds the test of time. Like this song still rocks. Oh No, it's one hundred songs of my lifetime. Oh it's yeah, it's up there, man. It's so good and I feel like it's actually gotten better with age, you know, because like before, you like when we were kids, you know, probably didn't. He probably knew what a lot of the words were by I don't think he maybe knew what they meant when we were kids, but we knew the music and the music was good. It's a catchy song now as adults. I mean Geez, I mean the opening line, welcome to your life. There is no turning back. It's like Holy Shit, like it's when you when you actually like sit down and think about that line. It's like wow, I don't even don't even have to be like stoned or buzzed even think like that. You know, it's just like man, that's like it's deep. So it's a good tune. Yeah, no, I absolutely I'm on board with that one. Now what you got? So the next couple. So deeper shade of soul by urban dance squad. This song I remember when the song came out. Shadows Steven's blast to get on American top forty coming home from church in the summertime, and the song is just has a cool vibe to it. It's like a southern California skateboardy summertime feel to it. So whenever I hear this song I think of summertime. It's also a really good song and I like it a lot. So that's what I think of. Want to hear. Deeper shade of soul by urban dance squad. Lucas with the LID off by Lucas. I love the song. I feel like I remember this. I don't. I feel the song was charting in the summertime and I remember her. So when I was a ten. Now I know about you, but I don't know why I would do this, but I did it a lot and I would come home from school and I would watch the grind like probably more often than I should have, because I like it would just usually be like dance music mostly,...
...and at the time I was kind of or to heavier music, but then I would just like watch people dance with Eric Neice and I think Jamy McCarthy might have been on at that time too. But I remember this song got a lot of airplay then and the video is pretty cool. I don't know. This is another one of the songs that makes me, makes me think of summertime. You know, remember that Song? I remember this song really well. I remember. Do you remember going down to seaside and hearing on the Strip they would have people just competing with their cars. They would go up and down the strip playing their music. Yep, okay, yeah, these like a jeep or someone where the convertible and they have this big boom box. Ever, forget these four doors. We're playing this song West. We have an I'm like, what is this? I fully remember it as and they had it blasted on their like five thou dollar freaking speaker system and like the dominick and guys are all looking at I'm like, what the Hell's that? Yeah, it's a good song. I don't know if it's the song you want to choose to really show, like showcase your stereo system in your car. I don't know if I could go that far. Yeah, I was like I you're not going to get the ladies with this one. Guys, I mean Lucas that this came out like in one hundred and ninety five, I think, or ninety six. By that point we already had the thirty six chambers from Wootangman, they're gonna blast something. You're going to you're going to blast Wootang at least. But that's funny. I remember one time I was at C side with a couple friends. I was like a sophomore in high school, and we're just like laying on the beach going bookieboarding and whatever. There is a store that was pretty much like directly behind us and they were blasting dirt from Alice and chains, like the entire album like straight through. I'm like this is like the best day ever, nice thing, listening to dirt hanging out on the beach, this is amazing, but yeah, looks of the Lidof not the song, not the song, the showcase your speakers kids. So the next one interstate love song by Stone Temple pilots. Another one that makes me think of summertime, but I feel like in the summertime growing up, we do a lot of road trips. Ever really went on like massive vacations, but we did a lot of road trips, which I love road trips, and if you're going on the road trip, you need the interstate love song on that mix we made. So what I did in an effort to try and basically when we would draw, when we drive somewhere now my kids are like, I'm going to listen to you like Disney music or basically just Disney music pretty much. So I'm like, Hey, how about we make a playlist for everybody? Everybody gets to pick ten songs and I'll put it in a playlist and then I'll just completely shuffle it and then what we'll drive down to the beach. And everybody was on board with that. So I was like cool. So, you know, my daughters, they pick some of their songs, my wife pick some songs and I was, you know, picking some of mind. This is the first Song I put on that list. It has to be. It has to be on there. You know, going on a road trip somewhere, you need the interstate love song by some of the applied to such a good song. What are your thoughts on that one? Oh Man, well, that song off the album purple, like the memories of that coming home from the beach, because when you had that disc, man, right, Oh yeah, just like, yeah, I mean you're tired, you're putting your phones in like you're just going to pick it, you're going to pick an album that you can want listen from the beginning to the end. Right, Yep, Yep, and that song, like I would always be passed out and there's like that drool coming down from your front of Your Lips, you know, like, Oh yeah, you're just like you're in the sun for four or five hours, you got salt in your veins and you're just like freaking passed out just listening to dude, such an easy listening, knock you out song. The best. Oh yeah, easily the best. That's a great song. All right, so I have this song. is another one that paints a fun summertime picture, but that one is pinched me by bare naked ladies. I absolutely love this song. I got to see them. They open for Hoodie in twelve and was a two thousand and nineteen and I think it's August of two thousand and nineteen, and I got to see them players live. Awesome Song. They did a great job playing get live. Such a good tune. But I know it. But he's like talking about like taking a drink right from the hose. I mean we did that we were kids, right, you know, we would drink right from the hose. It's probably explains a lot. You know, we would do all kinds of stuff like outdoors, take a little afternoon nap, you know, wake up a little bit later, go outside, play some more. Like I feel like this song really does a good job kind of painting what it was like being a kid in the summertime. I'm a fan of this song for sure. I feel like if for any summer mix, definitely has to be on there. That's why I put this on on there. What are your...
...thoughts on this? When you like the song, I always, I always love the song. But let's just get back to like the hose and the talk about like when I was a kid with the sprinkler, right, yeah, you know, you just ran through and you now anytime a water gets even close to me, I'm like when did I become this plus, like really, well, here's here's what I think. What is like, is Theref Talk to me? Yeah, it's here's what I think the deal was. So I am the same way. But I think the reason why I became this way is because I usually have my phone in my pocket and obviously phones cost like hundreds of dollars, right. So if I get my wet, if I get my phone wet, it's not a fun experience because I have also had like a lot of pictures on there's not so much the money, I mean it is, but it's also the fact that I have on the I have like twenty, literally like twenty something thousand photos on my phone, you know, if I've my family, my kids, my wife and everything. So if I lose my phone, I am shit out of luck because I don't back it up that as at least as regular as I should. Now I feel like maybe even if I don't have and like one of my kids spray me, like it got to a point where my oldest daughter, like my youngest, sprayed me and my oldest was like dad doesn't like when you spray in with the hose, Margaret. So you know. But I think when I even sometimes, like if I put the phone down, I leave the phone inside, I still feel like in my mind, no, it's like a habit, basically that I don't want to get wet because I have my phone on, even if I don't have my phone on me. So I actually have been making it an action item. It's like a resolution of mine to get better, where if the girls, you know, happy with the water gun or something like that, it's okay, or with the hose, but you get it back up your photos. But I had I I need so, okay, the clown baby, I got to my photos. Maybe that's why I dude, maybe that's why I always going wrong. brought to you by Google photos. Oh, I will gladly accept that sponsorship. Holy Shit. But yeah, no, yeah, drinking from the hose. I mean we had again, probably explains lot, but we had one of those like clown sprinklers. I don't know if you remember these, but it was like a clown head and you'd hook the hose up to the base of the clown head. Basically to the clown neck, and then that Clo down had a sprinkler would like shoot out through the top, okay, and he had a hat that would go on his head and basically you put the hose in and the water would shoot up through the head and basically the hat would just like be sitting on top of the water, like the water stream like like fifteen feet above his head. He had that in our backyard. I don't know, I think you guys are lucky. I wanted to mention that. We also, I think it, a sprinkler too. Well, we would be, but that was kind of our sprinkler, though, that clown, because then like the water would just like shoot up. So if you didn't put the hat on, then you could just like run through it either way and get blasted with hose water. Also, speaking of like water activities, the water guns for kids. Now our horse shit, all right, the Super Soaker we had we were kids. That was legit. Those things, as we would say on songs, gone wrong, are legit hits. The water guns now are water guns gone wrong? Those things are yes, there. It's like there's there's it's like negative seven PSI coming at you. It's like I could spin it faster. It sucks, but do you remember, and I think it was made and I want to find one and buy it, because this water gun was like the epitome of like my, I think, like two summers in a row. I think it was made by tiger. Remember Tiger? They used to make those handheld LCD Games. Yep, it was. It looked like a machine gun, like like in s machine gun, and it was like it was also like tight, had like tiger stripes on. It was like a green gun with Black Tiger stripes, and you put the water in like the clip, and then you would put the clip in and that's where the the tube was, and then you'd actually it would actually be it was a battery power, so you would just like push pull the button and then it would just like shoot at you until it ran out of water. The thing was amazing and had ridiculous range. Those water guns were amazing. I don't know where it I think my parents probably tossed it by this point, but yeah, in this if I can find one on Ebay or something. But yeah, those water guns, the supersucer's, man, those things are awesome. It's actually gone to the point where I am I looked up instructions for how to make my own water gun out of like PVC pipe. Nice. So that's probably the summer's project for me. Man, I'm gonna like put a hole through like if some kid comes over our house and they're they're acting up. I was blast the whole right through my PBC water gun. Try explain that to your parents, you little shit. You make at the potato gun better. That what that? Oh, yeah, you get yeah, you can make potato guns out...
...of PBC too. Maybe that's what maybe I'll say that for next year. All Right, what else? What are any other songs would have mentioned? You know what, it's probably not on your list, but a punk vampire weekend. Remember that Song? I don't. It's a relatively newer song and they played it on a Heineken commercial and that's why I downloaded it and I'm like salt freaking rocks at the end of the day. I just reminded me like when I go for my walks and I see guys in a garage like having fun in the summer, I'll crash it. I don't give a fuck my favor man, Hey, that's going on. So this song, it was like it was at it was in a hand of commercial and then they were like just going around, just drinking Hindh kids and people's Garages. And this reminds I remember putting this on my playlist and just like meeting people and going up and crashing into people's Garages and getting beers and stuff like that. There you go. Have One one funny story that there's always these guys around the park and they always get together and I'm like, man, you guys have the life. You guys are all together and everything. And I crashed their their their little money and I football party and I drank a beer with them and I they had this like cylinder that was like about four feet high filled with with bottle caps, and I go, I guys allso lately like beer, bottle caps, beer bottle caps, okay. So, and I'm about, I don't know, about twenty yards away and I flung it. Boom, I'M gonna flicking. Those things landed right in there. I'm like and I'm out of here. That's like a Castanza. You have that. You have like that big exit. Yeah, and then you man, you you don't stay after that. You get out to know you gotta that's it. It's just like see you, guys. I just freaking wrapped it, not like let's let's do it again Dayah, that's your clothes, D Eos, I was the closer. There it is bar. Yeah, yeah, that's a good one. Yeah, I'll have to check that song out. What do you think about the song by Rusted Root? Send Me, I'm away. Oh, I love that song. Great Song. That song is. It's great on multiple levels. It's so good. So, I mean I remember when it came out. Okay, then it got then they got a little bit of airplay at because I think it's in one of those ice age movies. But my kids also like it, so I'm like, this is awesome. So this is one of those songs where, like, I can play it and I love it and the girls love it, so it's a win win. But yeah, this is this song definitely makes me think of summertime, and it's good because makes me think of my summertime when I was a kid and it also makes me think of summertime with my girls too also. So I think that's about as perfect as it gets. Now where they at one hit wonder? I don't. I don't think I don't know if this song technically hit the top forty. No, I don't think it did. Wow, what a bunch of hippies, Bro I think I'm absolutely I would get along with these people, no problem. Sony were with some more and and then the beaute. The beauty of it is like, I'm think he's like there's like the one part. He's not even like saying anything. He's just like, I think he is even going on record and said I just was like making some shit up. Yeah, so that's peaked at seventy two. Yep, I was right. So Send Me'm away peaked at number seventy two on the billboard hot one hundred in September of one thousand nine hundred and ninety five. So yeah, I knew. I mean I remember it getting, you know, plenty of airplay. I was actually surprised at didn't rank better than that. That's a good fucking song. Shut some numb. That's the number one song as far as I'm been started fucked the billboard one hundred. Watch a pricks. It's number one. That's that's a good tune. I like it. So here's a here's a random one. I just remember listening to this song like nonstop one summer, like after the album came out, but more more human than human by White Zombie. I just remember playing hockey and my driveway like listening to this song and then that album too. But and then I remember like sitting home, like in a summertime on my parents would be at work and I'll usually I had a pretty steady appetite of watching like MTV. I feel like I watch Aspentura like at least once a day, and then I and then, like any like in the early afternoon, I go out like hit some hits, some baseballs off the tea, you know, throw the ball against the wall. Are you play street hockey at the park or do something? But I feel like this was a song that I remember like playing street hockey and listening to this tune. And also when I was watching MTV, this video beyond quite a bit and I would just watch this random video that Rub Zombie put together. But it's...
...a good tune. It really does nothing to do with summer time other than it just makes me think about it. That's all. Looking at him, how stinky you think that guy was, oh, terribly, terribly. You Think, Oh yeah, I have a feeling like you like, you think that he's stinky. He has that look, but then you smell him you're like, you're not that bad. He probably smells like lavender and he's got denteen in his mouth. I know he's like I smell. I smell terrific, because is like one of his like five thousand gene jackets. They probably smell like like just AP, just like flowers. Very, he's very, very floral scent. I doubt it. The nastiest smell I remember, because I used to play competitive soccer, is the goalies freaking gloves. Oh my God, like death. I remember I had a like my Goldie got hurt and I had to play goalie. I'm like one one did I become goalie, you know, like and I had to put on his gloves. Dude, I had to like put my freaking hands and battery acid to get the smell. Brutal. I you know what, you know what I had. That was not the nicest smell. While my batting gloves for baseball, but I had my because I played goalie lot for for street hockey. Oh, my leg pads because, like I would you know where shorts, because we play a lot in the summertime and it was the like the I didn't have like fancy ones. They were like I think it was like my leg and I'm pretty sure you got my clover, which that store is the best. And because I'd be wearing shorts there playing in a summertime, I'm sweating like crazy and like the padding it was just like a it was just like a foam, like it wasn't anything fancy, it was just like a foam. So like it just like absorbed your sweat and it was disgusting. And we played a lot and I sweat it a lot and those pads stunk like ass. So I can get could you didn't clean them, Bro how do you clean that? Just look a thing of fucking foam. How do you? How do you clean that? I don't think you can. You just just you just stink. That's what it is, all right. So I have I stay away by alson chains. It wouldn't be a podcast episode with the playlist that I didn't bring up announce to chain song. So here we go. I stay away another song. I remember driving to camp in July and I think the song actually came on the radio. Zero this or no excuses. But that whole album, I mean jarur flies, is my favorite album of all time. Him and this song just makes me think of summertime. I remember I played a lot of computer games. I never had a video game system until I was like maybe nineteen or so, eighteen or nineteen. So we play a lot of like IBM Games, like on them as DOS, and we would play like doom, you play cyber dogs, you'd play what was the other one? Duke Newcomb D and I feel like this would be one of those songs. I would play a lot too while I was playing, while I was gaming back in the day. Well, it's a good tune, it's a great fucking song. That album is amazing. If you put that, if you put jar flies together with sap, because sap is what five songs are. Flies is seven. You put them together, that's I mean that should be the best like full album of all time in my opinion. Wow. That's why I would say, are you like that song? Are you are your jar flies fan? I I am, but not as big as you. Not many people are. I mean I have that album around here somewhere. Actually, I'm trying to find it, but probably over there. But I love that Am. So here's how much I like that album. So I went to I went to the Prince of record exchange the other last week and I went, I also want a couple years ago, pre pandemic and whenever. And basically this place has like just a massive wall of CDs, like you CDs that you can go through and and buy. And whenever I see jar of flies, or dirt for that matter, or pretty much any else and chains album, but especially jar flies, I have to buy it because I'm like, this album should not be in a UCD store, even though that CD store that it's in is like amazing ice. I just can't let it sit there on the shelf. I have to buy it and give it a home. So that's that's where I'm at with with jar flies. But what we're I come out ninety four? Ninety four, yeah, I think. I think. I think the album itself came out and I want to say January of ninety four. I didn't get it right away. I think I was just getting into Alice and chance of that time. So I feel like probably by the summertimes when I was really fully into Alice and chains. Nice. Any others you have? I have...
...maybe three or four more maybe to go through. For me, I would say the ultimate probably would be sticks come sail away easily. Musically, it's a beautiful song. I used to put my daughter to bed to that song and singing. Okay, and you know, it's got so many elements, so many ups and downs, and that song so many things going on. I mean the song just freaking absolutely rocks. You know, it's a good tune. Yeah, yeah, and there's there's no mistake. Can this is the summer song for me. Okay. Yeah, so when I think of summer, putting my baby to bed and then get a good night's sleep, that's gone to two hours later, the two remember the two hours sleep. Dude. We still get it sometimes, like our youngest, she's just turned five. Even she actually slept through the night last night, but she's still a mediocre sleeper like we maybe get if we're lucky. I think we get two nights, maybe three of her very lucky, but I would say like two nights of like full sleep throughout the week. The other like four or five nights she's coming in for whatever reason. But yeah, I mean when when they were she's you know, when they were babies, yeah, you got up every two hours. Sucked, but it was even. That was fun. Like, looking back, I was like the mindset I tried to have was that, you know what, you're exhausted. They have coffee. So just you know, it's there's going to be a beginning, there's going to be a middle and there's going to be end and we're I'm at the end of where the baby gets up. So, yeah, I have a five year old too. So, yeah, yeah, I's so was an adventure, you know. Oh, yeah, well, so, speaking of songs that we play to try to get our kids to sleep, send me on my way, was one of them too. I had I had a handful of songs that we would play that we both liked. So that was one of them. The proclaimers five hundred miles. That was a nice one, and was the other one. Take on me by Aha. That was another one that they liked. And also my one daughter likes dreams by CRANBERRIES. So Nice. That's a that's a good that's a good thing. I'm trying to get them into some good music. Any others you want to go over? I have a couple left. Yeah, let me hear you. All right, so, I have, I can't help falling in love the one by you be forty. I think this song was on the soundtrack to sliver and this song got tons of airplay. I I just like this version. I don't know. I remember we were doing a road trip down to I want to say we were going down to like Baltimore or Annapolis or something like that, and I had my mixtape on and this was on there. So it was plush by STP. So yeah, this is the song that makes me think of some road trips and I was a kid. It's funny about that band and like did they have a really big hit? That wasn't another hit, because then I was like red red wine, right, was Neil diamond? Yeah, yeah, I was like these guys are just like covered band there, we're cover band. Dude, they made a big dude. That red red wine song was fucking huge. That song was massive, man. So they're paying all these royalties to get this, these songs up, but I want to mander those guys. Yeah, those guys they had. It's a solid business model, I guess. Right, you know the songs they can be. You know the songs going to be good, because it's already was good. Exactly. Well, els escapade by Janet Jackson. That's if you listen to escapade by Janet Jackson and you have and you are not in a good mood immediately after, I think there's something wrong with you. Maybe go talk to a therapist, because that song, it's like magic. It's like it's like a Zoloft in musical form. It's just, I don't know, just automatically puts a smile on my face. I could have a shitty day and listen escapade and say, all right, thanks, are okay. Yeah, yeah, man, I love it. Heard that song and forever and all so great. It's so great. I was I was blasted. I went I went to go pick up pizza for dinner and I was like blasting to shit on the right home. I'm like, I don't care, I'm my s fuck you, I'll listen to escapade, I'll do what the fuck I want. I have lived forever by oasis. I love this song. This is my hands down my favorite oasis song. I remember playing baseball and I was getting into asist at that time and I just remember playing baseball listening to this tune. And I have two more, but I'll do one and then I'll switch over to you. But summertime by Kenny Chesney. Obviously it's called summertime, but it's a good tune. My wife is a big Kenny Fan. So whenever we whenever you we there's like all we...
...don't have a pool at our house, but there's a put like a local like town pool, maybe like ten minutes away, and the girls like to listen to Kenny before we go over to the pool. So it's fun, it's I feel like when I feel like when we go to that pool just kind of reminds me of like it's very like Sandlot Ish, you know, going back kind of like the local town pool. So and we like to we blast Kenny. We usually it's like summertime. It's beer in Mexico. Note was it. No shoes, no shirt, no problems. Is other song that we like to listen to rock out with the girls on the way to the pool. Are you a small talk guy at the pool? I don't fucking talk to anybody, really nobody. I don't know anybody there and even if I mean I don't know, I just don't. This one Lacs, is one lady. She was like on her s was talking because I had like a shirt on. It said Duck, duck, gray duck, because instead of like Duck Doug Goose, is just kind of like a goofy shirt. Says Lady like talk to me for like ten minutes about our one daughter loves ducks, something like thanks, but otherwise no. Man. I'm like I'm either watching the kids, you know, with my wife, or if she's if she's with them, you know, I'm off on this side reading the book. So I don't want to. I don't know, I feel like I feel like that's gotten older. My Guy, just hate people. I don't want to fucking talk to any yeah, I'm at that point where my five year old thinks that my shoulders are bionic. And then I could tell she's such an actress. Bro She just won't Daddy Moore, Daddy more. I'm like Daddy's tired bird and I throw her up and then now it's spining this and I'm like all my Lord, that's like if that's like a full workout, like if you google like shoulder workouts, like you know you do like the military press. That's what it is, and and get your kids are probably what like I don't like our ours are like like forty fifty pounds. So like every time you do that, that's like a solid shoulder press right there, and I'm doing you know, like ten different times getting ripped. I don't even know it. Yeah, there you go. Well, it's multitasking, you're having found the family and it's a good workout. All right, what happened up? I don't yeah, I have any more on this list. Oh, yeah, good by better than as a round man, that song easily. For some reason, like anytime I that song was played way, way too much. Right, yeah, and I think it came out and I think it the May and it was pretty much played all through August. So I remember hearing that song all the time through that summer. I'm just like picking fire, getting fireflies, getting this, doing that, getting bit by mosquitoes, listening to this song and as like it says good, no, it's bad songs gone good. Yeah, that's that's that's a good it's a good tune. I feel like it's your point. Yeah, definitely was overplayed this. This makes me think of freshman baseball. Yeah, because I feel like this song was kind of a big deal around then. I remember listening to it. I like to I when I played baseball. I feel like baseball players are kind of superstitious in a way. I think some hockey players are. I don't know about other sports necessarily, but I I would have to do things in a certain way, which probably explains a lot my ocd whatever. But like I would have to like I had to have a routine right, like before I left for school that day we had a game, I have to listen to likes, either like a song or like certain songs in the particular order, and I remember like freshman year good and also, I think lift forever by a waysis they both of them were kind of in that list. And then if I had a good game, then I would keep it going. If I had a bad game, then I'd have to change it up. And I'm like, well, clearly the songs I listened to where the reason why I went over three with two strike out. So that's why I have to change. That had nothing to do with the fact that we played like a really good team, or maybe I just stuck that day. It was the music I listened to. So that's a that was my logic, which also explains a lot nice but I know that's that's that's a good tune. Yep, the only the only other one I have is in this is not like a summer song by any means, and this is actually the song that we talked about the other the other episode of Kevin Martin was far behind from candlebox. When I hear this song, kind of like yellow lad better, I immediately get taken back to a particular place, my sister's High School Graduation Party. So I was in eighth grade at that time and just you know, I got to I got to party and like the party wasn't about me. So I was just kind of like hanging out on the sidelines but still having fun, drinking like a case of sprite, which is like my parents are pie like, why is he so hyper over there? It's like a thirty fucking Sodas, mom and dad. That's why I plus, I probably had don't know how much cake and God knows what else I ate. But Yeah, man, that...
...song just takes me back to my sister's graduation party and I don't know that was. That was a phenomenal night. I had a lot of fun and just its was like, come on, you hooked up with good Beth or whoever you hooked up with. Come on, you can tell. You could spill the beans now, back then, and I was such a nerd. I'm like, I hope you didn't make the moves. You didn't say. Oh No, I didn't. I didn't like any of her friends, like, at least not like that. Okay, yeah, but even even if I did, I would have been like, I'm like such a nerd. I've been like, I would know to do. So that's I think. That's I think that's all the ones that we have. Yeah, yeah, so what we'll do is we'll put a playlist together. I already have it together, and then when we when we go live with the episode, we will put a link to the playlist on spotify. So everybody else wants to listen to it, if you want to add to it, go for a knock yourself. fucking silly kids. Yeah, like so many memories of the summertime that it doesn't even have to be something from like that. That's something summer in. It just got to be something that memory and I would love to hear everybody's memories of different songs out there. Man, it's doesn't have to be something that is so profound and they have summer time in the lyrics. So yeah, and I have I have more human than human on there. So I feel like it doesn't have to be summer related at all. So cool. All right. So play the playlist at your next party. Yeah, that would be super cool and see what everybody says. Yeah, especially you get to the White Zombie and people be like what the Hell is going on here? But cool, all right, man. Well, Boch, thank you, Sirah. I think this I think we covered off on a lot here. I think this is a solid list and, like I said, guys will put it out there. If you guys add to it, help yourself, all right. All right, guys.
